The first meeting of the Vic Lean Manufacturing Excellence Consortium was held in July, 2003, which consisted of a like-minded group of non-competing companies who were embarking upon their ‘Lean’ journey towards operational excellence.
With this common vision, the companies have continued to strengthen their Continuous Improvement drive through sharing and leveraged learning towards world class performance.
After an initial 3 year government funded period the MECV has become a member run group that meets bi-monthly. Today, member’s ideas are shared through rotational hosting of meetings and plant tours. These networking sessions provide ‘takeaways’ for visitors and constructive feedback for hosts. Common issues are tackled enabling continuous improvement for all member companies and their people.
The latest thinking and practices are shared through meetings, Kaizen events and circulated newsletters from world class experts.
In collaboration with like-minded manufacturers, MECV members collaborate to share knowledge and expertise within a safe comfortable, peer environment.
Members will deliver lean manufacturing advice, continuous improvement opportunities, and offer operational expertise, thereby strengthening continuous improvement practices and leveraging towards world class performance. Although focused on operational activities, members participate and share their experience across a range of business disciplines.
Members participate through rotational hosting of meetings and plant tours. Networking sessions will provide constructive criticism for hosts and as importantly will provide a knowledgeable resource of members willing to assist with mentoring of ideas and of our people.
Currently there are no fees as such. We encourage however that members make themselves available for one day consultation / mentoring to another member per annum.
Members are expected to attend 80% of meetings currently held bi-monthly, and are also expected to host a meeting as part of the meeting rotation amongst members.
